Its never easy to know when youre under psychic attack and theres an awful lot of paranoia about. Ive even heard it said that if you think you are under attack then you probably are. Nonsense. Most of the time odd happenings can be explained but its when the really inexplicable starts happening that youd better get out the garlic and salt.
Weve already looked at things like strange (and usually unpleasant) smells, a feeling of dread, a feeling on pressure on the chest (particularly at night), odd sounds (some people report hearing bells when there are none in the house), but all of these can have a natural explanation.
Most psychic attacks arent deliberate, but just a build up of spite, resentment, jealousy etc., which have been allowed to go unchecked. Never underestimate the power of spite, it has been responsible for some very unpleasant psychic attacks indeed.
Its even possible to cause your own psychic attack, by brooding on past wrongs and instead of projecting these outwards (which is what normally happens) you find they are projected back to you. This can happen especially when you are brooding about something without any hope of redress. For example, when someone who has upset you is long since dead. In cases such as these, the attack can be very difficult to pin down. These attacks are actually quite common.
The rarest type of attack is one from a person who knows their stuff, magically speaking. The deliberate attack from a skilled attacker. These can be frightening and hard for a beginner to deal with. This is why I always suggest keeping up a reasonable level of psychic self defence at all times.
This approach isnt paranoia, its just the psychic equivalent of locking your doors and closing the windows when you go out. Exercises to banish negativity are useful because they keep the home/office/car psychically clean and prevent a build up of thought forms that might attract problems. Think of it like putting bleach down the sink!
If you cant bear the thought of doing banishing exercises with a sweeping brush then try ringing a bell pure sound will banish negativity very effectively and cleanse the space where it is rung. Ringing bells is also good for cleansing objects. Done properly you can feel the vibrations in the air afterwards. A large bell will clear a much larger area than a small one.
I would say that when in doubt about a psychic attack, begin by cleansing. This will probably clear about 75% of most problems. You might have to cleanse several times for a further 20% of cases.
That leave you with a difficult core of perhaps 5% of cases. But you arent powerless against these attacks, even if they come from a really skilled occultist. The difference with these cases is that they will not stop unless you do something about them. Time and effort have gone into the attack so time and effort must go into your defence.

fascinating, as always.
it does feel sometimes that negativity is more powerful than the positive emotions.
Thanks Kev! The problem with negativity is that we either have hysterics at the mere thought of it or we let it take us over – unless we make a real effort, we often don’t find a way of balancing the negative and positive in us. Not everything negative is bad – we just have to use it and find a way to turn it towards a better purpose.
an excellent post, I’ve emailed it to the needy ones 🙂
Thanks Amaletska! 🙂
I suppose in a more prosiac sense it comes down to controlling your energy fields by thinking happy, soothing thoughts
Certainly it’s important not to allow negative brooding emotions to rule our lives, and there are definitely times when we need to stay calm and in control. That said, when a focused psychic attack comes my way, no amount of soothing thoughts will work on it – at least, not the ones I’ve experienced!
But you make a good point in that we do have a certain amount of control over the situation!
During the early part of this year I had two experiences of my energy body being vibrated to the core. These were strong, I was aware of their source, and the only way I know to cope is to relax the inner energies/body totally so these vibrations can be allowed to pass through unchecked. I strongly felt had I not, physical illness may have ensued.
Thanks for visiting my blog and posting here, Chassy. I was interested to read of your experiences – did you know or suspect their source?
Hi tp. Yes, both were from people I had known for some time. Neither was deliberate. The first of the two occurred whilst a phone call was being made in an adjacent room which I knew would not be well received. After the tremor I realised I could have caused it so left it open to thought. The second occurred when a couple visited. The usual comments on meeting were being exchanged whilst I made drinks when a very strong vibration started. As I turned one was tightly holding the others hands trying to warm them after theyd been left waiting in the cold unbeknownst to myself whilst I and the other had been talking on the phone. This persons energy is strong and has become a lot stronger because of focused energy work, without knowledge of the magickal side, and it wasnt out of character to be projecting outward, plus there was the magnification, so I wasnt concerned but thought it slightly unusual in it’s ferocity, however months later resentment which had been burning for a much longer time and had likely found acquiescence within the other revealed itself, so I am tending towards accepting the incident as being an unintended attack and the first mentioned as possibly one too, again on later revelations. Neither have been resolved, much as I tried, and may not be until we each of us move on and see it from the other side, so there is still reverberation felt when brought to mind, a shame, as you say most psychic attacks arent deliberate, but just a build up of spite, resentment, jealousy etc., which have been allowed to go unchecked the power of spite…responsible for some very unpleasant psychic attacks indeed.
Thanks for being interested tp, all the best now, Chas.X.
Thank you for sharing, Chassy. Those incidents must have been really unsettling. Even unintentional attacks can be really unpleasant.
I’ve always found it useful to do cleansing and banishing rituals which will usually clear up most things, particularly the unintentional attacks.
Once again, thanks for sharing 🙂
Hi again (any objection to tylly?)
I find certain things more interesting in their existence than unsettling, too interesting to get close to anything emotional, although the reality of peoples’ behaviour, the things they do claimingly knowingly and rightly, though not knowledgeably, now that unsettles! (a helpful quote from a t’ai chi teacher – ‘Life is such a rich experiment when I become interested and curious about the process and let go of the judgements’, something I still bumble around with!)
I have been on a path to prove belief, desire, intent and action for truth and no harm would bring about realisation as much as following doctrine or discipline and magickal practices. It has brought a bigger bundle than I could have imagined wherein existing as part of an interactive and integrated whole is continuous and present at the switch of awareness. To prove this is possible without doctrine etc. has meant I have had to avoid the practice of ritual, even in meditation. Thanks for raising banishing and cleansing as helpful tools though, I appreciate your goodwill, and wish you well in all things.
With love and good wishes, Elaine.X.
Well there we are… I’ve learned something new today. 🙂
Thanks Usky – the thing about pyschic attacks is that they will often home in on a person’s weakness or fear. These attacks are often thought-form based which makes them a little different from a full scale attack by an experienced occultist – although they can be just as scary!
I guess that makes sense… it’s a bit beyond my comprehension though if I’m honest.
Well, you know when you feel you’ve had a run of bad luck, and that there’s something ‘personal’ in it? Or you know when odd things start happening, as though someone is wishing you ill? That can sometimes be evidence of a psychic attack.
And the thing about them is that they will always go for your weakest spot, which could be your job, your self esteem, your family, your health. Sometimes it’s a combination. Hope this helps.
I could feel really persecuted given what’s been happening this last year or so then…
Thanks for the explanation Tylluan; yes it helps a lot.
I think that I might save time and effort by moving house right next door to that that very special church in town. The one with the very large loud sounding bells.
Dong dong dong!
Would you recommmend the move ?
Depends on whether you can stand all that noise on a Sunday morning Skip! :)) At least when you use bells for purification you get to choose when you use them…. if you’re relying on church bells then you might have to wait a few days before they ring out again!
(Actually we have a big chapel bell in the house for such a purpose…. we call it Clarence the Clanger…)
people need to know this…spot on:)
Thanks, Jack 🙂 Actually it’s surprising how a little knowledge of how magic works (even if you don’t intend using it yourself) can come in handy!
Very interesting Ty and a subject I can identify with. Interestingly bells are used in Feng Shui to clear spaces and I also read a wonderful book a few years ago called Creating Sacred Space which was Feng Shui based. They say that negative energy collects in corners of rooms just like dust or cobwebs do. Clapping from the bottom of a corner to the top clears the negative ‘dust’ I have tried this myself and find that when negativity is around the clap sounds hollow and becomes clearer once the spot is cleared.
That’s really interesting, Wendy – thanks for sharing! The idea that sounds change when there is negativity is a well established one, but it’s always good when it’s something you find out for yourself!
I haven’t practised that for some time and can’t find the book! still usually resort to incense or smudge sticks when I want to bring a sense of peace and harmony to the home
Hi TP! I’m thrilled that I stopped by when this topic is being discussed. Like you, I’m very aware of Psychic Attacks that are directed at a person. While all people can and do experience them, it appears to me the people who are most affected often are people who have a lot of water signs in their astrology charts. This does not always hold true, but they are they ones who succomb to the attacks more.
Actually, historically speaking, psychic attacks were talked about in most cultures and they carry different names which really boil down to the same thing. In North American aboriginal groups it is called Bad Medicine. In many of the Caribbean Islands it is called Voodoo.
I do believe it often relates to negative thought forms or energy that is projected towards a person.
One method in native land for clearing out the energy, I believe I wrote about on your blog earlier. That is going around the exterior of your house with herbs. However, if I have had someone visiting my home who was quite negative with their discussions, I clean out the air with burning herbs in each roomn of the house.
Here is another strategy I use in my home that seems to help as well. I don’t recall where I heard of this over a decade ago, but I’ve been using it for that long. I have crystals hanging in every window in my house. At each of the 4 solstice seasons, at the very least, I clean all the crystals. If I have been under psychic attack, I immediately clean the crystals with a combination of the elements of fire, water, earth and air.
I sincerely hope this helps many of you out there. Thanks TP for raising awareness of this!
Yes, these are very interesting and helpful strategies, Moonwoman. I’ve never noticed a propensity for water signs to be targeted more or indeed to react more strongly, but of course water does seem to be a powerful conductor of psychic energy (just as it is for electricity.) I have noticed that damp houses are often more prone to psychic activity – which may just be another side effect!
Certain strategies also seem to work better in some areas than others!
Many thanks for your suggestions! 🙂
Interesting follow on from your previous post.
Thanks.

Thanks Avrilo! 🙂
Great post.
Thank you – glad you enjoyed it! 🙂
Hi to all:
A few days ago, I was under a psychic attack, it was unintentional, it was my sister that is a medium, and she works with several “spirits” that are her friends. the first night, when she came to my house, cause she lives in another city, she slept on my bed, in the middle of the night, I felt “something” pushing down the mattress from one side and from the other, I was like in a trance state, not sleeping, feeling this movement, and I remember saying to my sister “why are you doing this to me?” then I began to yell out loud, and my sister woke up, and calmed me down telling me that it was a “nightmare” but I have never had nightmares before, and I was pretty conscious of it, so she told me that it was a “joke” of one of her spirits, she doesn’t felt anything, only me. I was really scared, and felt this was a psychic attack, unintentionaly made by the unconscious power of my sister. Then, next day, I was so uneasy, and couldn’t sleep with her, so I decided to sleep on the other house, that is alone, and that my syster refused to sleep there.
the other days she slept in my room but in another mattress, I was also uneasy, but could sleep. days after, when sorting out from a restaurant, she was mad with me for something I said, but did’nt tell me anything, and in that moment I felt (in the street while walking)a whip on my leg, so I turned back, but there was nothing, she told me again that it was her “joker” spirit friend, I was kind of mad, but didn’t said anything.
My problem is (I practice kundalini yoga, a very different source of energy that seems not to get along with her energy),that I want to go to the city where my sister lives, and the only place to stay is with her, but I am afraid of another psychic attack, Do I have to cancel my trip?
I want to go, but I am afraid of her unconscious power, or as she says, her “spirits friends” (jokers) I’m afraid of another bad joke, cause I have a small heart trouble. I don’t know what to do.
Am I in danger if I go to her house ? The only place to sleep is in her room, and I cannot afford to pay a Hotel.
Any advice? or ideas?
Thanks in advance
Aisha
Hi Mrs. P,
I have a question for you –
What can be done with an object that has been received as a gift, and is believed to be “charged” with negative energy…like a programmed psychic weapon? I received such a thing this past winter and have never felt good having it around.
Should one simply discard the thing? Bury it? Throw it in a lake?
Hope you don’t mind the question – I googled psychic attack and you popped up! 🙂
Hope you are doing well,
LP
Hi, thanks for this question. The answer really depends on how badly you want to keep the item. If you want to keep it then you’ll have to try cleansing it – sometimes it works well, sometimes I have to say that it doesn’t.
If you don’t want to keep it then I’d recommend either burning it (adding salt to the fire) or digging a hole, covering it with salt and burying it.
Which do you think will be the most suitable?
Hello again!
This is exactly the crux of the question – yes…how badly do I want to keep the item. I don’t want it and didn’t want it, but it is a valuable object in and of itself.
It is made of crystals and resin – it is a magical tool, actually. I’ve smudged it and let it rest in the sun/moonlight. Burning it will obviously do nothing to destroy it. I’ve been thinking that burying it is really the only way to deal with it, but then it’s still “there” somewhere, unfortunately, and I cannot decide rightly “where” that should be. The whole issue is I want to cut the association completely, and as long as this thing is hanging around in my life, it seems to maintain itself.
Thank you for your help! I really appreciate your time 🙂
All the best to you!
LP
If it’s a magical tool and you feel uneasy about it then you really should get rid of it. Value doesn’t matter if you feel it is in any way ‘loaded’. Burying in salt is one way. possibly you could leave it as a ritual offering at a lake… this was traditionally a way of getting rid of certain ritual objects that was no longer wanted. I would first bless it with salt and then weight it so that it remains where you have put it.
You have to decide whether your feelings towards the object are because you never wanted it or because there is something intrinsic to the object itself. Obviously I can’t answer that. If you decide at the end of the day that the problem stems from simply never having wanted it, then you could simply bless it and give it away. The next person will be unlikely to have any problems with it.
Do you think it has already been used for any magical purposes?
